Frequently Asked Questions - Printing Problems

1. Q: I have download and installed the latest version of Drivers Daily Log (DDL), now when I try and click on the "Print" command, all I see is several flashes, What is wrong?

A: Each flashes indicates a print modules that needs to be updated. At some time other print modules have been downloaded and installed. Even if you no longer use the old print modules, you must do one of the following:

        1. Uninstall any print module you do not need.

        2. Download and install the latest print modules needed.

        3. If you sure what print modules you have install then download and run this utility to uninstall all print modules, be sure to re-download only the print module you need.  Click this link to  uninstall ALL print modules You must download and install this utility.

2. Q: How do I uninstall old print modules?

A: You can run the un-install program for that print module, these can be found under Drivers Daily Log main folder located at  C:\Program File\Drivers Daily Log\ Then look for the file that begins with uninstNAME of the print module. i.e.. To uninstall PRIME you would look for uninstPRIME.EXE

3. Q: Since I have updated DDL, all I see is the data on my printed log page, How do I fix this?

Click HERE to see an example of a half completed log.

Click HERE to see an example of the same log completed correctly.

A: There are some printers that will not print the log sheet out unless it is in draft mode. You can do several things:

    1. Change your printer setting under windows to print in draft mode only.

To do this follow these steps, some printers make have different buttons, but all will have a way to change the quality of the printed page.

STEP 1. Open the Print Module you are using. (This example is Barr-Nunn)

STEP 2. Click on PRINTER SETUP in the Tool Bar.

STEP 3. Click on Properties (might say Advance)

STEP 4. Set the Print Quality to FAST DRAFT or DRAFT mode. (You normally have 4 or 5 choices)

STEP 5 Click OK to save your settings.

    2. Change the setting in the print module 'DDL settings' menu' to force draft mode. Make sure you save your settings. Most print modules have a 'Force Draft Mode' setting that can be checked under settings in the print module you are using.  DDL will try and force your printer to use Draft mode. If this can not be done, then you musty change your Printer Settings as described above in #1.

4. Q: Why does my DDL not look like my printed log?

A: DDL is not designed to replace any log, we have our own logs (DDL CLASSIC and DDL OCR) that can be produced from DDL, over the years we have done a few logs for different drivers for their companies to assist them in only have to print and sign, then turn into the company so it can be sent thru their Log Scanning System.  As there are currently 5 major companies that make scanning software to audit drivers logs, and each make 100's of different logs for each company, we can not reproduce them all. See our policy on the download page and requirements to try and get a log that DDL can reproduce.  ( A warning we current only do about 10 or so a year so the line is over 500.) DDL takes the data that is inputted into the software and then transfer's it to the print module, which prints it onto a scanned image of the log the company is using.  We do NOT print and data onto a regular log page.  Nor do we plan on doing this any time soon.
